About the Band
Awesome Express was just signed by Strega Entertainment Group. The name of the band will be changed imminently and we have some amazing new band members. The band now includes Chad Michael Jervis, lead vocals; Charles Coleman, guitar, vocals; Shaqed Druyan, drums; and Brennan Leeds, bass, vocals. All band members are freshmen at Berklee this academic year. They will be travelling the country this winter on tour for the Girls Scouts and will be performing in December in Celebration, Florida. They will be touring in the US this summer.
Awesome Express won the “BEST LIVE ACT OF THE YEAR” award at the Limelight Magazine Music Awards this past March. The band film scored and performed the music of the indie comedy movie “Vampires VS Zombies” which premiered April 1st. Awesome Express won the Berklee High School Battle of the Bands and was a showcase band at the Berklee/TCAN Rock Showdown. They were the featured artist for December 2012 for the Youth Arts Forum (YAF), whose mission is to unite the youth around the world through the arts. In addition, they were selected to be one of the official “Tunes-For-Tots” performers for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. They are also official “Green Rockers” for Greenschools. Awesome Express has performed at top venues around New England and New York City.
Awesome Express is a dynamic, award winning rock band that have torn the roof off many famous venues throughout New England and New York with their enthusiasm, musicianship and energy. The band originally came together in late 2009 through the local non-profit teen band program “Plugged In,” which places teens together for 10 weeks to make music and use their music to help others. After just a short time of playing together, they realized that they had something special. They entered a battle of the bands and won.
Awesome Express is passionate and dedicated about bringing back the classic sound of rock and roll from the ’60’s and ‘70’s, and are influenced by Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and Queen. Performing original music and classic cover songs, they bring audiences to their feet. In addition to performing at many charitable and local events, they have performed at noteworthy venues such as: The Red Room @Cafe 939, Boston MA, The Boston Hard Rock Cafe, Middle East Downstairs and Upstairs, Ryles Jazz Club, Johnny D’s, The Center for the Performing Arts in Natick(TCAN), The Sad Café, The Topsfield Fair 2012, The Boston Common, Harvard Square Music Festival, The Raven, the Joan Norton Stadium, Firehouse 13 (Providence, RI) the newly renovated Needham Town Hall, UMass Lowell Fox Hall, Real School of Music, (Burlington, MA) and Slate Club (NYC) and The Bitter End, NYC
In addition to performing at top venues in the New England area, the band believes in the importance of using music to help others. They performed at many charitable events and are official performers for the following organizations:
